Vantage South and Vantage Southeast both serve the peanut growing region with precision solutions and agronomic services, and both have been long-time sponsors of the SPGC.

Vantage Southeast is focused on Georgia, Florida and South Carolina growing regions. Travis Kelley says their team always enjoys coming to the SPGC. “It’s been important for us,” said Kelley. “We don’t consider it a sales meeting. We consider it more of a support for growers.” Vantage Southeast is also the official SPGC blog sponsor once again this year.

Syngenta celebrated 20 years as a sponsor for the Southern Peanut Growers Conference by bringing a new solution to growers – Miravis fungicide for leaf spot control in peanuts.

“We just received registration for that at the end of May,” says district sales manager Lyle Stewart. “The residual control that we are seeing on that is amazing.”

Stewart says growers are also pleased with the results they have been seeing from Elatus fungicide, which has been on the market for three years now, especially for white mold.

The University of Georgia is exploring how engineering can help agriculture meet new challenges.

Dr. Donald Leo, dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Georgia, has been working with the Georgia Peanut Commission to find ways to work together. “One of them is getting our students more involved in the challenges and opportunities you have in the agriculture industry,” said Dr. Leo during the Friday luncheon, sponsored by BASF.

Dr. Leo says robotics, artificial intelligence, apps, and drones are all areas where different engineering disciplines can come together to help farmers.
