It’s that time again – time for peanuts on the beach in Panama City, Florida.
Not the Charles Shultz kind of Peanuts – the real ones!
It’s the 13th Annual Southern Peanut Growers Conference, being held once again at the beautiful Edgewater Beach Resort, July 21-23, and I will once again be your official SPGC blogger. This will be the fourth year we have been providing this forum for all the action from the event – photos, interviews and video – and it officially kicks off tomorrow afternoon with registration and grilled PB&Js!
The theme this year is “Windows of Opportunity” and the schedule is packed full of powerful peanut production presentations, like the general sessions Friday morning on “The Marketplace” and “Production Agriculture & The Land Grant System.” Saturday will focus on “Challenges for Agriculture,” including insight on the next Farm Bill debate coming in Congress.
The keynote at lunch on Friday will be Michele Payn-Knoper, a motivational speaker who “works to connect the farm gate to consumer plate through programs in agricultural advocacy, social media strategy, the translation of farm to food and grassroots marketing.”
We have some new sponsors for the event this year – so make sure you check out the sponsor list on the sidebar and give them a shout out for their support. See you on PCB!
